Salon treatments
What is a mechanical peel and how is it applied in the salon?

Quick answer
A mechanical peel physically removes dead cells from the skin's surface with the help of small particles. Peeling cream is massaged onto clean skin with circular movements; once the cream is absorbed, the particles are rinsed off or removed with a tissue. It should not be used more than 2–3 times a week.
Mechanical vs chemical peel
A mechanical peel removes dead cells by massaging the skin with a grainy product. A chemical peel uses acids such as AHA, BHA or PHA to loosen the bonds between cells so they shed more easily. A mechanical peel gives an immediately noticeable smoothness; a chemical peel offers more even and controlled exfoliation.
How is the intense peeling cream applied?
Croen Intense Peeling Cream is a 500 ml salon product containing almond shell powder and labelled for all skin types. According to the label directions:
- Massage gently onto the skin with circular movements.
- Once the cream has been absorbed, remove the peeling particles from the skin by rinsing or with a tissue.
- Do not use more than 2–3 times a week.

An alternative for sensitive skin
For sensitive skin, a gentler cream-based peel with silica particles can be chosen. Croen Sensitive Peeling Cream (200 ml) is labelled for sensitive skin.
Peeling should be postponed for irritated, broken or recently treated skin.
